'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, detailed Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She stated his victims were under-privileged children who were attending a youth camp which he managed.
Ruben engaged in a "candy game" with the children, Mrs Prior said, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She stated to the judge Ruben had conducted this practice with the children "repeatedly", and minors had previously fallen ill the next day.
She explained the man had been capable of justifying this for many years as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had worries in summer 2025.
The legal representative stated further: "This year his stepchild had concerns about what was going on, justifiably.
"They chose" to investigate in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel stated materials including baby oil, ointment and injection devices were discovered, and his stepchild notified the police about his suspicions.
She said the defendant continued to engage in the "candy game" with six youngsters that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that time," she continued.
The oversight body, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was investigating the police response of the events.
The legal representative said the minors were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson called the law enforcement again.
She explained Ruben then conducted the "sweet game" in a space of five children.
